From the Fire

From the Fire

On a hot, dry, windy day in late spring fire struck our small cottage on the St. Croix River in Minnesota. With blazing force the fire tore through walls and glass, but somehow spared the lines of a story or a child's tea set. The charred ruin was a scene of destruction and loss, but also of salvage and discovery. Sifting through the remains, I felt like an archeologist uncovering history, memory, and beauty.
